Hyundai has expanded its B-X series of battery-electric forklifts with new 16- and 18-tonne models, completing a range that now spans 4 to 18 tonnes. The new trucks target sectors where diesel forklifts remain common, including ports, shipbuilding, timber processing, metal production, and construction materials.
According to the source, the 160B-X uses a 618-volt lithium-ion battery that delivers more than seven hours of continuous operation and supports rapid charging. Hyundai says the trucks are built for year-round outdoor work in rain, cold, and dusty environments, where electric powertrains can outperform diesel.
The B-X models include safety technology such as camera-based pedestrian detection, load sensing, Blue Spot and Red Zone lighting, autonomous parking, and operator-presence protection that stops travel and mast functions when the driver leaves the seat. The source also notes that Hyundai has not released full specifications, and speculates that the large battery may double as part of the counterweight.
