Kia has added a new PV5 Chassis Cab to its electric van lineup, an open-bed model the company says offers “endless” conversion possibilities, from tippers and box vans to food trucks and campers. The announcement comes a year after the PV5 first went on sale, when it became Europe’s most popular small electric van—accounting for 37% of electric C-segment van sales in the first half of 2026, according to the company.
In the UK, conversions will be handled by TGS Automotive Group, with initial options including Lightweight Tipper, Dropside, and Box solutions. Kia also showcased a food truck and camper conversion at SOLUTRANS 2025. The Chassis Cab will be available in the UK exclusively with the long-range 71.2 kWh battery, delivering a WLTP range of up to 258 miles (416 km), while other markets get a standard-range 51.1 kWh option.
Kia claims a “best-in-class” payload of up to 1,005 kg and a 5.5-meter turning radius, making it suited for tight city streets or construction sites. Fast charging at up to 120 kW takes about 30 minutes to go from 10% to 80%, and an 11 kW AC charge from 10% to 100% takes roughly 6.5 hours. The final range and payload will depend on the conversion, and pricing will vary by market.
The PV5 Chassis Cab launches in Europe and the UK in 2026, part of Kia’s broader plan to expand the PV5 lineup to 10 body types. The larger PV7 van, revealed earlier this month, is slated for 2027.
