Lectric eBikes has introduced the XPress Lite, a lighter and lower-cost version of its popular XPress2 urban e-bike. Priced at $1,099, the new model is aimed at everyday city riders who value portability and agility over raw power. It weighs 45.6 lb with the battery removed, making it easier to carry up stairs or load into a vehicle.
The bike is powered by a 500W nominal rear hub motor that peaks at 864W and delivers just over 61 Nm of torque. It comes with an eight-speed Shimano Altus drivetrain and an in-house torque sensor, plus Lectric's XPerience Switch system, which lets riders toggle between torque-sensor and cadence-sensor operation. This flexibility suits both those who prefer a natural pedal feel and riders who want a more relaxed, motor-assisted ride. The bike can be configured for Class 1, 2, or 3 operation where local laws permit, and includes five pedal-assist levels and a thumb throttle.
Other features include hydraulic disc brakes, puncture-resistant tires pre-treated with Slime, a 3.5-inch color TFT display, and an integrated rear light with brake-light and turn-signal functionality. The main compromise is battery capacity: a 7.8 Ah pack provides 375 Wh, rated for up to 45 miles on pedal assist. Lectric notes that real-world range depends on assist level, terrain, and rider weight. Both the bike and battery carry UL certifications.
The XPress Lite is available in four colors and uses a mid-step frame for easier mounting. It expands Lectric's already broad lineup, which includes cargo bikes, trikes, and folders. By offering a lighter, more affordable commuter option, Lectric continues its strategy of diversifying at approachable price points, potentially helping more people choose e-bikes over cars for short urban trips.
