Regulators in Ohio have approved a permit for Oak Run Solar, a project that will pair 800 megawatts of solar generation with 300 megawatts of battery storage. The decision by the Ohio Power Siting Board allows the development to move forward after years of legal and regulatory delays.
The project is expected to be the largest solar-plus-storage facility in the state. Its approval follows a lengthy review process that kept the developer in limbo and prevented construction from starting.
With the permit secured, Oak Run Solar can now proceed toward building out its generating and storage capacity. The approval marks a significant milestone for utility-scale renewable energy in Ohio, where large projects can face extended scrutiny before receiving the green light.
