Renault has unveiled plans for the E-Space Concept, an all-electric minivan that revives the spirit of the original Espace launched in 1984. Unlike the current Espace SUV, this concept returns to the iconic people-mover shape, with the "E" standing for E-Tech electrified technology and "Space" referring to its spacious, high-tech interior.
The electric minivan measures 4,700 mm long, placing it in the same class as the Kia PV5 and Volkswagen ID. Buzz SWB. Its design keeps the original's silhouette but adds modern touches: a wide U-shaped light strip at the front and rear, an illuminated floating diamond pattern, and square running lights similar to the Renault 5.
Renault has not released full specifications, but the company plans to adopt lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries across its EV lineup to lower costs, so the minivan will likely follow suit. According to Auto Express, it will ride on Renault's new RGEV Medium 2.0 platform, which could deliver around 500 miles of range and support an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) configuration.
The E-Space Concept will be unveiled on October 12 at the Paris Motor Show, alongside the Renault 8 Gordini Concept and Renault 4 JP4x4 Concept. Renault will also display new production models, including the Megane E-Tech Electric, Trafic E-Tech Electric, and a customized Renault 5 Turbo 3E.
