Six Flags Magic Mountain has switched on one of the largest commercial solar carports in the US, a 12.37 MW array in Valencia, California. Developed with Solar Optimum and DSD Renewables, the project uses 22,908 bifacial panels mounted on 36 carport structures. The canopies cover roughly 637,000 square feet and shade 4,315 parking spaces, split between guest and employee lots.

The installation also adds 109 EV charging connectors and a 2 MW/8 MWh battery system. Six Flags expects the panels to generate about 20.8 million kWh annually, enough to offset the combined electricity use of the amusement park and neighboring Hurricane Harbor Los Angeles. The site remains connected to Southern California Edison, allowing the park to draw power when generation is low and export surplus when generation exceeds demand and battery capacity.

Construction began in November 2023, and the project follows earlier solar installations at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom and Six Flags Great Adventure. By placing panels over existing parking, the project uses land for multiple purposes: parking, shade, and power generation.
