The F-150 Lightning, once Ford's flagship electric pickup, is now moving quickly on the used market as prices fall to 50–60% of original sticker. According to Electrek, used Lightnings are selling in about 20 days, less than half the 44-day average for used vehicles in the US. Edmunds data shows prices have climbed 4% to about $50,000 since the start of the year.

The demand follows Ford's decision to end Lightning production last December. CEO Jim Farley said high-end EVs in the $50k–$80k range weren't selling. On the used market, the math works better: Jimmy Douglas of Plug, a wholesale EV dealer, told Bloomberg that 50–60% off sticker is a "sweet spot." Some rival dealerships that would normally return Lightnings to Ford are instead selling them directly due to demand.

Ford is set to try again with the Fathom, a new electric pickup built on its UEV platform, starting under $30,000 including delivery. The company aims to sell around 100,000 in the first year. Farley acknowledged at the 2026 Automotive News Congress that launching at scale, cost, and on time will be a "heck of an effort." Ford confirmed the Fathom is still on track for 2027.
