Volkswagen has opened orders in Germany for the entry-level version of its ID. Cross electric SUV, priced at €27,995 including VAT, or about $31,000. The new Trend trim uses a 37 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery and an 85 kW motor, with a WLTP range of up to 201 miles. This follows the launch of the larger 52 kWh version in July.
The ID. Cross is built on the MEB+ platform and is roughly the size of the gasoline T-Cross. Volkswagen offers three trims: Trend, Life, and Style. Life and Style come with a 99 kW motor as standard, and can be ordered with a 155 kW motor and the larger 52 kWh NMC battery. The smaller pack supports DC fast charging at up to 90 kW, reaching 80% in about 23 minutes, while the larger pack charges at up to 105 kW.
Inside, the ID. Cross features a 10.25-inch digital instrument display and a 12.9-inch infotainment screen, including a "Retro Display" mode inspired by the first-generation Golf. Volkswagen has said it will not bring the ID. Cross to the US, where the ID. Tiguan will arrive in early 2027 as the ID.4's replacement.
