A browser-based game called Taipei GTA has reportedly drawn 1.2 million concurrent players within three days of release. According to Tom's Hardware, the game was built using AICodeWith, a development platform that provides access to multiple AI models, and cost around $10,000 in prepaid tokens to create.
The title is a free-roaming game set in Taipei, with districts like Ximending and Taipei Main Station, and includes 93 missions. Tom's Hardware suggests the project is likely a demo for AICodeWith, since few hobbyists would spend that much on coding tokens. The game is still being expanded, and the developers have asked the community for direction on future updates.
In a brief test, the site found the game ran at over 100 FPS on integrated graphics, using low-poly models and simple lighting reminiscent of early-2000s titles. The game is free to play online, and while its name may invite legal attention from Rockstar, the source notes it remains playable at the time of writing.
