A traveler at Alcantarí International Airport in Sucre, Bolivia, spotted an unexpected sight on a passenger display: a Windows 11 desktop with an update prompt. The notification came from K-Lite Codec Pack, a media codec bundle, suggesting the departure board runs on a fairly ordinary Windows setup rather than purpose-built signage software.
The updater appears to have detected newer versions and brought itself to the foreground, which is fine for a desktop PC but awkward for a display mounted beyond passengers' reach. The screen also showed shortcuts to Microsoft Store, Outlook, and a weather widget—more than a departure board would typically need. The reader who reported the sighting could not dismiss the prompt or update the codecs, leaving delayed passengers with an unintended glimpse of the system's inner workings.
