AWS Adds Burstable T8i Instances with Custom Intel Xeon 6
New low-cost EC2 T8i instances pair exclusive Intel Xeon 6 chips with sixth-gen Nitro hardware.
AWS has announced general availability of its T8i EC2 instances, a new low-cost burstable compute offering. The instances are powered by a custom sixth-generation Intel Xeon 6 processor that is exclusive to AWS.
The T8i instances also use the latest sixth-generation AWS Nitro cards, which are part of AWS's hardware acceleration platform. The combination of custom Intel silicon and current Nitro hardware is the main detail provided in the announcement.
The source does not include pricing, performance benchmarks, or comparison with prior burstable instance types. As a single-source announcement, there is no independent analysis to confirm how the T8i instances position against competing low-cost cloud offerings.
