Four months after launch, Lisuan Tech's LX 7G100—once touted as a competitor to the GeForce RTX 4060—has hit a performance wall. According to benchmarks from German outlet PC Games Hardware, the card now matches AMD's nine-year-old Radeon RX 580 and trails the seven-year-old GeForce RTX 2060 by as much as 35%. Despite several driver updates, performance has flatlined, leaving the LX 7G100 far behind modern mid-range cards like the RTX 4060 or Radeon RX 5050, which are more than twice as fast.
The card's hardware specs are respectable on paper: 6,144 shading units, a 2,000 MHz boost clock, and 12GB of GDDR6 memory on a 192-bit bus, placing it near the RTX 3060 12GB or RX 6700 XT. Yet in practice, the RTX 3060 12GB is twice as fast. The gap highlights a significant technological lag between Lisuan Tech and industry leaders like Nvidia, AMD, and Intel.
One bright spot is driver support. Lisuan Tech became the first Chinese GPU maker to obtain WHQL certification, and the LX 7G100 launched with stable DirectX 12 compatibility, running modern titles like Cyberpunk 2077 and Assassin's Creed Shadows. Three WHQL driver updates have shipped in four months, showing commitment to software maturity. However, closing a 2X performance gap through drivers alone seems unlikely, and it remains to be seen if future updates can narrow the divide or if the hardware has already reached its limits.
