According to Tom's Hardware, DenuvOwO, the group behind a hypervisor-based bypass of Denuvo DRM, has reportedly disbanded. The report cites a piracy scene source suggesting the move is likely linked to Irdeto's lawsuit against cracker Voices38, though this was not explicitly confirmed.
The report notes that CS.Rin, a forum where DenuvOwO's bypassed games often appeared, has removed links and banned some members. Although the site is hosted in Russia, the likely explanation is that Irdeto is seeking Voices38's identity through third-party services, and CS.Rin wants to reduce exposure to laws like the DMCA.
The disbanding is not expected to halt Denuvo cracking entirely, as DenuvOwO's work relied on common open-source tools that others can replicate. Meanwhile, Voices38 has said "all is fine" and continues releasing games. Separately, RUNE recently released a proof-of-concept crack for Assassin's Creed Mirage that removes Denuvo Anti-Tamper and VMProtect, yielding a 15% average FPS boost and a 76% increase in minimum frame rates on a Core i7-13700K and RTX 5080 system; the executable also shrank from 496 MB to 102 MB.
