Fedora 45 beta is adopting kmscon as its virtual terminal, replacing the aging console stack. The change brings smoother text scaling, richer colour output, and stronger Unicode handling to text-mode sessions, according to The Register.

The new console appears under GNOME 51, the desktop also shipped in the beta. The Register frames the move as dragging the Linux console into the 21st century, noting that the old console had lagged behind modern graphics expectations.

Since this is a beta, the shift is still a preview. Tests will determine whether the kmscon-based console is polished enough for the final Fedora 45 release.
