The Gigabyte TRX50 AERO D is a high-end desktop motherboard built around AMD's TRX50 chipset and sTR5 socket. It is Gigabyte's only conventional TRX50 board, aimed at users who need more than a consumer Ryzen system but do not require the full workstation feature set of the WRX90 platform. The board supports both standard Threadripper and Threadripper Pro processors from the 7000 (Zen 4) and 9000 (Zen 5) generations.

Memory support is limited to four RDIMM slots in a single DIMM per channel configuration, which simplifies routing and allows Gigabyte to advertise EXPO overclocking up to DDR5-8000. For expansion, the board offers two PCIe Gen5 x16 slots and one Gen4 x16 slot, along with four M.2 slots (three Gen5 and one Gen4) and eight SATA ports. Rear I/O includes a 10GbE port, a 2.5GbE port, Wi-Fi 7, and multiple USB ports including two 40Gbps USB-C.

To handle the full Threadripper lineup, including 350W TDP parts, Gigabyte uses a 16-phase VRM for the CPU vCore, plus additional phases for the SOC and PCIe/miscellaneous power. The board measures 12 by 10.4 inches, a slightly shortened EEB form factor, and uses passive heatsinks with an 8mm heatpipe rather than active cooling. The overall design is a balance between consumer and professional needs, making it a flexible option for the reduced HEDT market.
