The GMKtec EVO-X3 is a new mini-PC built around AMD's Ryzen AI Max+ 395, a 16-core Zen 5 chip with Radeon 8060S graphics and support for 128GB of LPDDR5X memory. ServeTheHome notes that this class of chip has become popular for local AI inference and development, and GMKtec is positioning the EVO-X3 as an AI workstation with preloaded AI development software.

The most distinctive hardware feature is an OCuLink port on the rear, which provides four PCIe Gen4 lanes for external devices such as an eGPU dock. According to the review, this makes the EVO-X3 one of the few Ryzen AI Max systems with external PCIe connectivity, and it offers more bandwidth than Thunderbolt 4. However, OCuLink is not hot-pluggable, and GMKtec includes a warning sticker against connecting or disconnecting cables while powered on.

The chassis is a fully metal, upright monolith design, a change from the plastic EVO-X2. The tall, slim profile keeps it close to a desktop-replacement laptop in thickness, but front I/O is sparse: just two USB-A ports (one USB 3.x 5Gbps, one USB 2.x) and an audio jack. Rear connectivity includes HDMI 2.1, USB-C 40Gbps, USB-A 10Gbps, and 2.5GbE. The review suggests that despite GMKtec pitching OCuLink for gaming, the system is better suited as a productivity desktop.
