GMKtec has given its flagship AMD Strix Halo mini PC a full visual overhaul. The new Evo-X3 abandons the previous design for a statuesque, more premium-looking case that, according to the review, keeps temperatures and noise in check during operation. That is a notable improvement over the older model's presentation and acoustics.
Under the hood, though, the Evo-X3 is essentially unchanged: it runs the same Strix Halo processor found in the Evo-X2, which GMKtec reviewed back in February. The performance story is therefore familiar, and the main differentiator is the redesigned enclosure rather than any new computing capability.
The catch is pricing. The Evo-X3 costs around twice as much as the Evo-X2, despite sharing the same chip. That makes the upgrade hard to justify on hardware grounds alone; buyers are paying a large premium for the new suit, not for faster silicon. For those who value the quieter, cooler, and more refined chassis, the premium may be worth it, but the review makes clear it is a significant trade-off.
