GMKtec has launched the Evo-X5 Pro, an agentic AI mini-PC built around AMD's flagship Ryzen AI Max+ Pro 495, part of the Gorgon Halo family. The chip packs 16 full-size Zen 5 cores and 32 threads, with a 3.1 GHz base clock, 5.2 GHz boost clock, and 64MB of L3 cache. Tom's Hardware describes it as essentially a mobile version of the Ryzen 9 9950X, but with a much lower power budget. The mini-PC offers three performance profiles: silent and balanced cap the chip at 54W and 85W, while performance mode allows up to 120W sustained and 160W peak.
The headline feature is memory: the Evo-X5 Pro comes with 192GB of LPDDR5X-8533 soldered to the motherboard, paired with a 256-bit interface for roughly 273 GB/s of bandwidth. That exceeds the 128GB available on Nvidia's GB10 chip and AMD's previous Strix Halo parts. GMKtec says up to 160GB of that memory can be allocated as VRAM for large local AI models. Storage options are 2TB or 4TB PCIe 4.0 SSDs, and the system has three M.2 slots, though only two run at x4 while the third is limited to x1.
The 2TB model is priced at $6,799 and the 4TB model at $7,099. Super early-bird pricing drops those to $6,399 and $6,699, but only for the first 30 units; regular early-bird buyers get 3% off. There is no bare-bones version, and Tom's Hardware notes that bulk-purchase discounts are negligible. The Evo-X5 Pro launches alongside rivals such as Acemagic's F9A and Minisforum's MS-S1 Max-P495, which use a similar AMD Ryzen AI Max+ Pro 495 recipe.
