Greenpeace protesters interrupted Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang's keynote at GTC Berlin on Wednesday, just minutes into the address. Attendee footage shows demonstrators standing on chairs with a banner reading "Nvidia, clean up your dirty business!" as one heckler called out: "What about the technology that was found in Russian drones? Those were Nvidia chips." The protester also asked what the company was doing about "environmental destruction."
Security escorted the protesters out of the hall. Huang could be heard saying "It's okay, go easy" and "I'll talk to you later" before continuing with the keynote, adding: "All important issues, but let me get through my keynote." Nvidia has not offered a direct response to the demonstration itself, according to the report.
The disruption follows recent reporting that Nvidia's Jetson Orin modules were recovered from Russian cruise missiles and AI drones, including the S-71 "Monochrome" weapon. Nvidia has said the chips are consumer-grade products sold to students, developers, and startups, not designed for military purposes, and that although the modules are not available in Russia, the company cannot track resale of pre-owned units. An August report described a Russian AI drone that killed civilians in Ukraine using autonomous targeting, with recovered drones containing the same Jetson module.
