The Intel Connectivity Performance Suite (ICPS), a utility often preinstalled by OEMs on laptops, is being blamed for intermittent IPv6 networking failures. According to a report from The Register, affected users see random connection resets in applications like OneNote, OneDrive, and browsers, while IPv4 connections remain stable.
One Samsung Galaxy Book owner traced the problem to ICPS after Microsoft support couldn't resolve it. Replacing Samsung's build with the generic release fixed the issue. An ASUS user on Intel's forums reported that 40–60 percent of IPv6 HTTPS connections to AWS CloudFront were reset, and the problem disappeared after uninstalling ICPS.
Intel's support forum suggests that the wireless driver and ICPS are distributed as separate packages, so users can remove the utility without losing driver functionality. However, Intel has not issued a public advisory, and broken builds are still being served through Microsoft's Update Catalog. Intel and Microsoft did not respond to requests for comment.
