Micron's Taoyuan union in Taiwan will hold a one-day strike on October 22, according to Tom's Hardware. Workers want a specific proposal for this year's additional bonus and a clear formula for sharing future profits. Previous negotiations collapsed in September, and employees approved industrial action in early October.
The strike targets round-the-clock fab operations. Memory demand is strong, and Micron's Taiwan fabs produce DDR5, LPDDR, and HBM for AI accelerators. Even a one-day stoppage could have a material effect, though the actual impact depends on participation and contingency plans. The union says the action is meant to pressure management, not break off negotiations.
A separate union at Micron's Taichung site, its largest Taiwan facility, is scheduled for mediation on the same day but has not authorized a strike. Workers cite Samsung and SK hynix as examples of profit-sharing. Micron employs about 15,000 people in Taiwan.
