A new DLSS 5 release has been pulled apart by modders almost immediately. Renan Maniero extracted the 310.9.16.0 neural rendering build, allowing it to be injected into games that Nvidia has not officially enabled for DLSS 5. The modding community typically uses tools such as RenoDX or OptiScaler to insert the DLL into the rendering pipeline.

Early performance comparisons show the new model is significantly faster than the earlier leaked build. Gaming Optimized, posting on X, reported up to 90% better performance in The Witcher 3 when running DLSS 5 natively. Other tests have shown the newer NR model running up to 40% faster than the previous one, though the gains vary by game.

Nvidia has also made the underlying model more efficient. The company says the AI model is 24% smaller, uses 20% less VRAM at 4K, and processes its neural rendering workload up to 2x faster. That matters because consumer GPUs have fixed VRAM, so Nvidia cannot simply scale up the model; it has to make it leaner.

The new DLL includes two neural rendering presets, with Preset A being the older model and Preset B the newer one, which makes side-by-side comparisons easier. Modders have also modified the runtime to work on RTX 20-series GPUs, even though Nvidia has only announced official DLSS 5 support for RTX 40-series cards. There is no mention of official support for RTX 30- or 20-series.
