NASA has ordered three more Crew Dragon missions from SpaceX, covering Crew-15 through Crew-17. The contract, reported to be worth around a billion dollars, gives the agency a guaranteed path for rotating astronauts to and from the International Space Station.

The move highlights the growing gap between SpaceX and Boeing. Starliner's future remains uncertain, and this new order does nothing to change that. Instead, it reinforces SpaceX's position as NASA's primary crew transport provider.

The source frames the deal as a way to secure astronaut access to the ISS. That suggests the contract is more about continuity than exploration. With Crew Dragon already operational, NASA is buying reliability rather than new capability.
