PC cooling maker Noctua has revealed that one of its fans is being used inside the CAIM1, a 4K camera marketed as 'Anti-AI'. The fan's job is to keep the camera's processor from throttling when the device is recording and performing cryptographic calculations at the same time, a workload that reportedly makes the chip quite warm.
Without adequate cooling, the processor would likely slow down to protect itself, degrading camera performance. The integration of a desktop-PC-grade fan into a camera is unusual, but it underscores how computationally demanding real-time encryption and imaging can be. The announcement highlights how specialized hardware sometimes borrows from the PC ecosystem to solve thermal challenges in compact devices.
