Nvidia has announced an updated DLSS 5 model that doubles performance while reducing memory demands. According to Tom's Hardware, the new version is twice as fast as the prior release and uses less VRAM, a notable improvement for 4K gaming on GPUs with limited memory.
The October update also shrinks the model's footprint by 24%, bringing it to roughly 118 million parameters. This smaller size likely contributes to the 20% reduction in 4K VRAM usage, making the latest DLSS 5 more efficient for high-resolution rendering.
These gains come from the model itself rather than new hardware, meaning existing RTX owners could benefit from the update. Nvidia's announcement positions DLSS 5 as both faster and lighter, addressing two common pain points in upscaling technology.
