Nvidia has filed a patent for an AI chatbot designed to help game developers troubleshoot and optimize PC games. The patent, spotted by Patentlyze and reported by Tom's Hardware, depicts an interface where developers describe performance problems in plain English. Example queries include asking what causes micro-stutter during camera cuts or why frame times spike when ray-traced reflections appear.
Once a developer submits a question, the AI would write a diagnostic specific to the issue, run it automatically on the GPU, and present the results for interpretation. This could lower the barrier for less experienced developers, since existing optimization tools require specialist knowledge and can be time-consuming to use.
The patent does not clarify whether the generated diagnostic code would be validated or tested, which could raise concerns about reliability. As with most patents, there is no guarantee the technology will reach shipping products. Still, it aligns with Nvidia's broader push into AI-assisted gaming, including its G-Assist chatbot for GeForce RTX users and the AI-driven features in DLSS 5.
