Recent rumors suggest Nvidia may be winding down production of the RTX 5090, and Tom's Hardware says this could be the last realistic window to buy one. The card still leads consumer GPU benchmarks, but standalone prices have risen from a $1,999 MSRP to more than $7,500. No direct replacement is expected before at least 2028.

The RTX 5090's specs remain top-tier: 21,760 CUDA cores, 32GB of GDDR7 VRAM, a 512-bit memory bus, and up to 1,792 GB/s of bandwidth. That is more than double the CUDA core count of the RTX 5080. Tom's Hardware notes that the cheapest remaining options are often prebuilt systems, with some priced near the cost of the GPU alone.

Examples include an Alienware Area-51 at Dell for $7,499.99 with an AMD 9950X3D, an MSI Infinite ZS at Best Buy for $7,599.99, and a Skytech Blaze 5 at Newegg for $9,299.99. The source also says Micro Centre may soon stop stocking the card. If supply does dry up, prices could climb further, as they did after the RTX 4090 ended production.
