Performance is at the top of the Gen 4 class, with sequential reads up to 7,300 MB/s and writes up to 6,600 MB/s, plus up to 1.2 million random IOPS. The 2TB model tested includes 1GB of DRAM, which is half the amount typically seen on WD's equivalent, though the review suggests this has no practical impact. The drive carries a five-year warranty and supports TCG Opal v2.01 encryption, and Sandisk includes its Dashboard software and Acronis True Image.
However, pricing is a significant drawback. The 2TB model costs $609.99, well above the $494.99 price of the WD Black SN850P it is based on. Tom's Hardware expects prices to come down, but for now, buyers are paying a premium for the Sandisk branding. The drive also draws around 9W at peak, which is higher than DRAM-less SSDs but manageable with the included heatsink.
