Elon Musk announced on X that SpaceXAI will add 660,000 Nvidia GB300 GPUs in three waves: 220,000 operational next week, another 220,000 in November, and a final 220,000 by late December if all goes well. This brings the company's total to 1.44 million GPUs across its two Colossus sites, with Colossus 2 alone hosting 440,000 GB300s and 110,000 GB200s.
The expansion is notable for its scale, but power remains the bottleneck. SpaceXAI has been running unpermitted gas turbines to feed the data centers, leading to a neighborhood lawsuit. The company has promised to remove them over the next year as its own 1.2-gigawatt power plant comes online.
Musk's ambitions go further: he plans to grow data center capacity sevenfold by 2027 and aims for 50 million H100-equivalent GPUs by 2030. He also floated an orbital data center system with a million satellites, though Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang called that a "dream" for now. The current buildout, while massive, is just the first step in a much larger roadmap.
