Tom's Hardware reports that two budget gaming desktops are currently available for under $1,000. The ABS Cyclone M Aqua, sold at Walmart for $999, includes an Intel Core i5-14400F, an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 with 8GB of VRAM, 16GB of DDR4-3200 memory, and a 1TB SSD. The deal also adds a 2TB Verbatim Vi7000 SSD, though the source notes it is unclear whether that drive comes pre-installed.

The alternative is CyberPowerPC's Gaming Master desktop at Best Buy for $999.99. That system uses an AMD Ryzen 7 8700F, an AMD Radeon RX 9060 with 8GB of VRAM, 16GB of DDR5 RAM, and a 1TB SSD. Tom's Hardware says the RTX 5060 is faster, but the RX 9060 is not far behind in raw performance and remains well suited to 1080p gaming.

The two machines differ in platform trade-offs. The ABS system benefits from Nvidia's DLSS and multi-frame generation, plus the extra 2TB drive. The CyberPowerPC counters with a newer AM5 socket and DDR5 memory, which the source says makes it the better choice for future CPU upgrades. Both are positioned as solid 1080p gaming rigs, and the source warns the prices are unlikely to stay this low for long.
