The Register reports that Amazon, Google, Microsoft, OpenAI, and six other AI companies have agreed to make changes to how they handle personal data after pressure from the UK's Information Commissioner's Office. The agreement follows watchdog scrutiny of the firms' AI products and services.
The ICO's intervention appears to have produced commitments from the companies, but the regulator has indicated that its inquiry is not over. The Register notes that the ICO isn't done asking questions, meaning the companies may face additional demands.
