According to The Register, the PCS union says the Cabinet Office has confirmed that Capita will miss the March 2027 legal deadline for correcting 93,000 pension cases under the McCloud judgment. The ruling found older public service pension arrangements discriminated against younger members, requiring the government to review and fix benefits.

Capita took over the Civil Service Pension Scheme in December 2025, and its online portal and service have reportedly struggled under demand. The union says the company remains stuck in the design phase it entered in July, with 73,000 retired or deceased members and 20,000 deferred members still waiting for corrections.

The source notes that Capita's £239m contract with the Cabinet Office does not cover the McCloud remedy work; instead, a separate Capita-run project, Remedy Project 7, was funded with £45m. The Register has asked Capita and the Cabinet Office for comment, and the union says it cannot give members reliable information about when corrections will happen.
