Repario has acquired UnitedLex, joining two alternative legal service providers. Repario historically focuses on e-discovery, digital forensics, and managed review, while UnitedLex provides a wider range of services including legal process outsourcing, legal operations, litigation support, IP, contracts, and technology. According to the announcement, the acquisition creates a technology-led legal services company designed to apply AI across complex legal workflows at enterprise scale.

Repario chief executive David Moran said clients have significant concerns that using AI in legal means losing control of data, visibility into the process, and confidence in results. He argued that clients deserve a higher standard and should not have to make that trade. The combined company says it pairs legal expertise with AI-enabled workflows engineered around human review and accountability, allowing clients to reach case strategy sooner with predictable costs and defensible AI.

The combined entity supports law firms, corporations, and government agencies from centers in the United States, Mexico, India, the United Kingdom, and the European Union. UnitedLex had been owned by private equity firm CVC Capital Partners since 2018, while Repario is backed by JLL Partners. The article also notes that UnitedLex went through a period of turmoil in 2024 after its then-CEO James Schellhase departed suddenly, though the acquisition announcement itself focuses on scale, AI capabilities, and client trust. Since only one source was available, there are no differing accounts to compare.
