The Supreme Court on Monday refused to let the U.S. Postal Service move forward with parts of a new mail-in voting rule. The decision came in a brief, unsigned order, according to SCOTUSblog.

The order leaves intact a ruling by a federal judge in Boston that bars the USPS from implementing aspects of the rule. That means the lower court's block remains in place for now.

The Trump administration had asked the justices to allow the rule's provisions to take effect, but the Court declined. As is common in emergency applications, the order did not include a detailed explanation.
