Tadalafil, sold under the brand name Cialis, is widely used for erectile dysfunction and for urinary symptoms caused by an enlarged prostate. A new analysis of nearly 74,000 men suggests that long-term use of the drug may be linked to a higher risk of glaucoma and other eye pressure problems.

Men prescribed tadalafil for prostate-related urinary symptoms were 22% more likely to develop glaucoma or related eye pressure conditions, according to the study. The analysis focused specifically on long-term use in this patient group.

Because the study is observational, it cannot prove that tadalafil causes glaucoma. The findings highlight a potential association that may warrant further investigation and suggest that long-term users could benefit from regular eye pressure checks.
