AI scribe company Suki has raised $90 million in Series E financing to move beyond clinical documentation and into autonomous administrative work. The company plans to build AI agents that can complete tasks after a patient visit, such as making referrals, obtaining prior authorizations for new medications, and scheduling follow-ups. CEO Punit Soni said the agents will use information from Suki's existing tools to carry out these tasks.
The funding will also be used to deepen partnerships with the more than 30 health technology companies that embed Suki's products, including Optum, Zoom, and athenahealth. Suki already powers athenahealth's Ambient Notes and the ambient documentation feature on Zoom's telehealth platform. Soni said the company wants to give its partners the same features it builds for its own app, rather than simply adding more partners.
Suki faces intense competition in the AI scribing market, where rivals have raised much larger rounds. Ambience Healthcare raised $243 million and Abridge secured $300 million last year. Suki has raised more than $250 million across five rounds. Soni said raising mega rounds of $100 million or more can create unreasonable expectations, and that a degree of scarcity keeps the company disciplined. New investors in the round include Healthier Capital, Crosslink Capital, and Hercules Capital.
