UnitedHealth has appointed Jodee Kozlak as its first chief administrative officer, effective Sept. 28. She will be responsible for modernizing and aligning operations across the company's various businesses, with an initial portfolio covering human resources, real estate, procurement and corporate security.

Kozlak brings experience from Alibaba Group, where she was global senior vice president from 2016 to 2017, and Target, where she served as executive vice president and chief human resources officer from 2004 to 2015. She currently chairs the board of C.H. Robinson Worldwide and is lead independent director at KB Home. CEO Stephen Hemsley said her experience in business strategy, organizational development and governance would support operational improvements.

The appointment is the latest in a series of executive changes at UnitedHealth, which has faced intense scrutiny over its business practices and consumer trust. Earlier this week, Dan Kueter was elevated to chief commercial officer and Brandon Cuevas became commercial CEO of UnitedHealthcare. The company has also named a new CFO and reshuffled leadership in its Optum units since Hemsley returned as CEO last spring.
