Multimodal large language models have shown strong vision-language skills, but how well they actually reason about geometry remains unclear. The new TriGeoBench benchmark directly targets this gap by combining visual figures with TikZ, a vector graphics language.
According to its abstract, existing mathematical benchmarks typically depend on rasterized figures, which may not fully capture the structural and symbolic aspects of geometry problems. TriGeoBench appears designed to offer a more rigorous test by including both rendered figures and TikZ representations.
The paper notes that geometry-centric reasoning in these models is still insufficiently understood. TriGeoBench thus provides a way to probe that capability more precisely than prior evaluations.
