AI Actress 'Talking Tilly' Requires Face Scan for Calls
A viral AI video-call service collects facial and mood data from callers, raising privacy concerns before it shuts down.
The AI actress Tilly Norwood became widely known after a live broadcast glitch in which she switched into Chinese on Piers Morgan Uncensored. Her "Talking Tilly" video call service, however, has a less visible but more significant privacy feature: every caller must undergo a face scan to verify they are 18 or older before the conversation begins.
According to the report, the service also monitors callers' moods during the call, meaning it captures not just a static biometric image but ongoing emotional state data. This goes beyond typical age verification and raises questions about how such data is used, stored, and protected.
The service is scheduled to shut down on September 27. That deadline makes data retention and deletion policies particularly important, as users who submitted facial scans may want assurance that their biometric information will not outlive the service.
