Android developers now have stable tools to inspect the security patch status of individual device components. Google's AndroidX Security State v1.1.0 and Security State Provider v1.0.0 libraries are the first stable releases designed for this more granular check.

With these libraries, an app can query whether a particular component has received the latest fixes. This matters because a device might be up to date on some parts while lagging on others—something that was previously obscured by the coarse Android security patch level.

The release signals a shift toward component-level transparency in Android security. That said, the practical benefit depends on developers integrating the libraries and on device manufacturers reporting component-level patch data accurately.
