A cyberattack on BAE Systems, a major U.S. government contractor, has disrupted the Bankruptcy Noticing Center (BNC), the platform that produces and transmits bankruptcy notices for every federal bankruptcy court. The Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts said Thursday that all access to BNC systems and related websites is unavailable, halting production of bankruptcy notices.

BAE Systems said it is aware of a security incident isolated to the BNC system and has taken immediate steps, coordinating with the Administrative Office. The courts office did not respond to questions about the nature of the incident or whether data was stolen. CISA referred inquiries to the U.S. Courts, and the FBI did not comment.

The disruption comes amid a string of recent cyberattacks on U.S. government systems, including a breach of Arizona's state court system that exposed data of more than 1.3 million people, and previous incidents involving the federal courts' case filing and docketing systems. The U.S. Department of Transportation also confirmed a contractor-related cyberattack took a safety agency contact center offline this week.
