Lookout has introduced Social Engineering Protection (SEP), a module for its Mobile AI Security Platform aimed at AI-driven mobile social engineering. According to Help Net Security, SEP provides automated, real-time protection against threats that are becoming harder for users to recognize.

SEP is positioned against linkless smishing—phishing messages that do not rely on a malicious URL—as well as vishing and synthetic voice. That makes voice cloning a central concern: attackers can use AI to impersonate trusted callers. The module is designed to catch these attacks in real time rather than after a user has already taken action.

Because the write-up is based on Lookout's announcement, there is no independent evaluation of SEP's effectiveness in the source. The claims reflect the vendor's description, and real-world testing or deployment results would be needed to verify how well the module performs.
