Portnox has introduced new capabilities aimed at curbing 'shadow AI'—the use of unauthorized AI applications and agents on corporate devices. The company's platform can now detect these tools and automatically enforce security policy the moment they are identified, according to a Help Net Security report.

The enforcement options include restricting the application, quarantining it, or removing it entirely from the managed device. This automated response is designed to reduce the window of exposure and ease the burden on IT and security teams who might otherwise have to manually track down and remediate unsanctioned software.

The move reflects a growing concern among enterprises about the proliferation of AI tools that employees adopt without formal approval, which can introduce data leakage, compliance violations, and other security risks. By integrating detection and response directly into device management, Portnox aims to give organizations a more proactive way to maintain control over their AI application landscape.
