Security researchers have identified a new Android banking malware called RemControl, distributed through a malware-as-a-service (MaaS) platform. The campaign uses malvertising — malicious advertising — that impersonates the TVTap IPTV application to lure users into installing the malware.
According to the report, the targets are located in Europe and Canada. Because RemControl is offered as a service, it may be available to other cybercriminals who want to run their own distribution campaigns. The report does not provide further technical details or indicators of compromise.
