According to MIGNOW COO Guilherme Joventino, some large enterprises are planning to keep SAP ECC running after the 2027 end-of-mainstream-support deadline, opting instead to pay SAP for extended support until 2030. The decision is often driven by fear of disruption: companies worry that a migration will interrupt operations, so they prefer to buy more time.

That time is not free. Joventino notes that the choice carries a cost, and the longer organizations wait, the shorter the runway for a successful migration. From a security perspective, relying on extended support only delays the inevitable; after 2030, staying on ECC would mean running without vendor support, which would increase exposure to unpatched vulnerabilities.

Firms that have not yet tested their migration paths should know exactly what was tested before going live. The interview suggests that understanding the scope of the upgrade, and the risks of staying behind, is critical for avoiding last-minute surprises.
