Sophos has launched Sophos CISO Advantage, an agentic AI-enabled solution designed to bridge the gap between security operations and business strategy. The tool assesses an organization's environment, maps it against industry frameworks such as NIST CSF, CIS v8, Cyber Essentials Plus, and NCSC CAF, and produces a prioritized, budget-aligned roadmap. It also provides measurable proof of progress in language that boards and business leaders can understand and act on.
The launch comes amid a fragmented security market and a severe shortage of security leadership. Sophos cites its 2026 CISO Report, estimating roughly 35,000 CISOs serving 359 million businesses worldwide, and notes that average CISO tenure is just 18 to 26 months. The company positions the offering as a way for organizations without a dedicated CISO to build and execute a security strategy, while also helping existing CISOs demonstrate control effectiveness to boards, regulators, and insurers.
Because the solution is part of Sophos Fusion, assessments are informed by live threat intelligence and data from more than 625,000 Sophos-defended organizations, rather than generic benchmarks. Sophos says customers can run the program in-house, start with an MSP partner, or use a continuous managed service. The company also cites IDC research director Phil Harris, who argues that vendors combining assessment and remediation in one AI-native system will shape the market's next phase. The source is a single vendor announcement, so no independent verification or contrasting views are included.
