A senior UK cybersecurity official has warned that artificial intelligence is likely to give cybercriminals a greater advantage than it gives their targets. Dave Chismon, chief technology officer for architecture at the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), made the assessment in a blog post, as reported by Recorded Future News.

Chismon said the imbalance between offensive and defensive uses of AI means automated security systems will struggle to keep pace with evolving threats. As a result, he expects the volume of cyberattacks to increase.

The warning highlights a growing concern among security professionals that AI tools are being adopted faster by attackers than by defenders, despite efforts to integrate AI into defensive products.
