Ukraine's largest grocery chain, ATB, confirmed a cyberattack after the hacker group DataSuckers posted an extortion demand on the company's website. The group demanded $400,000 and threatened to publish data it says was stolen from millions of customers. A countdown timer for the ransom demand appeared on the retailer's site but was later removed.
ATB said the temporary message did not affect the security of customer data and that the website remained fully under its control. The company took some online services offline for what it described as technical maintenance. In response, DataSuckers published samples of allegedly stolen data on its Telegram channel, saying it would sell the full database rather than leak it for free.
The group claims to hold names, phone numbers, email and physical addresses, password hashes, employee passport information, and records of more than 11 million orders from 7.9 million customers. The authenticity and scale of the alleged breach could not be independently verified. DataSuckers describes itself as financially motivated rather than politically aligned, and has recently claimed attacks on Russian businesses including Dodo Pizza and Tez Tour.
