Accenture has told employees that, starting October 1, it will centrally fund only $29 per person per month for Claude, according to internal materials seen by 404 Media. The company's announcement says all costs are consumption-based, so anything above the cap must be paid for through a specific project or team code. The change applies to Claude Enterprise licenses.
Some Accenture employees had been spending far more than that—one internal message put typical monthly use at $500 to $1,000. In the messages, workers ask how to get upgraded to a Premium plan, complain that the upgrade path is blocked, and express frustration about project costs. Another employee says Claude access was revoked entirely. The company's announcement warns that access is reviewed periodically and can be reallocated based on business priorities.
The move is striking because Accenture has encouraged clients to invest heavily in AI, yet now finds itself limiting AI spending for its own staff. A company spokesperson said Accenture makes AI available to its people and aims to offer the right tool for the right work while continuing to invest in AI skills. With only a single source—404 Media's reporting—there are no independent accounts to compare, but the internal documents and employee messages provide consistent detail.
