A new report from Workera, covered exclusively by ZDNET, finds that nearly 70% of workers now use AI on a regular basis. Despite this widespread adoption, many of those same workers receive no dedicated time to upskill, leaving a gap between daily usage and longer-term capability building.

The report also points to a fundamental disagreement: businesses and employees are not on the same page about AI upskilling. While organizations may assume their workforce is prepared, employees appear to feel otherwise, with limited opportunities to develop the skills they need.

For organizations, the takeaway is that adoption alone is not enough. Without structured time and resources for upskilling, the workforce may be using AI without fully understanding it, which could limit the technology's business value and create future skills gaps.
